How long until most of the corals die from being out of water?

Aren't you trying to sell the rock you have? And it takes a heck of a lot less time to get substrate level bacterial proliferation than it does to get coralline coverage. I think he was looking for a little more than rocks with coralline spores on them.

Please correct me if I'm wrong. I just can't see why people put so much into "established" water. The bacterial concentration in water is 1/1000th of what it is in substrate pound/ pound. Please tell me what the big deal is.
