Need HELP! - Metal Halide 250w

It's an odyssea with Two 250w 20K MH bulbs. It came preassembled. There is power between both sides of the socket, My voltmeter only measures up to 720v, so I know it has more than 720v.

Need HELP! - Metal Halide 250w

It doesn't glow at all. How can you tell if a bulb is no good? Again, no idea about MH.

Need HELP! - Metal Halide 250w

My buddy got a 250w metal halide setup and when you turn it on- Nothing. How do you go about testing what's wrong? It has an electronic ballast if that means anything. I run PC and have no idea about MH.

Dying snails and ID for purple fuzzy thing

I wouldn't lower the temperature any. There is no way to tell for sure where the snails were collected from or what temperature they were aqua cultured at. I would get a copper test kit (because you are using tap water), but leave things as they are. Snails are generally abused before you get...

How many snails did you have altogether? How many now? How long did it take for them to die?

If you're going to use bottled water in your tank get distilled water. At least you know it has nothing in it.

Thinking of a new tank...Lagoon style?????

I've always liked the lagoons, esp. for corals. If you want to get fancy you can make two lagoons the same size and join them together putting one a few inches higher than the other and drilling holes in the higher one to allow flow from the upper to lower. The lower tank would drop water to...

    Gonna order fish tomorrow

I agree on the damsel issue. I had a damsel that I used to start a tank, but after adding a royal gramma from saltwaterfish, the damsel snapped. It began to attack the gramma instantly. I can understand that because the damsels home was invaded, but the damsel also began attacking the clown fish...

    Condy anemone sting?

I had a purple tip condy that moved next to a green mushroom. It would keep grabbing the mushroom on one side with its tentacles. The mushroom secreted its goo and the condy stopped. The condy then moved to the other side of the tank where it met its demise in a powerhead.

Dying snails and ID for purple fuzzy thing

The fuzzy thing is a "Tree Foram", they look cool and are completely harmless they will filter feed and may become food for some fish. The margarita snails are from the rocky intertidal region on the North American Pacific coast and are used to being in cooler water. The water temperature thing...
