So I found this photo taken about a month ago. Still growing strong. It is hard to tell how big it is really getting, because I keep having to back up with the camera. It is bigger than a softball. Birdsnest is great, from frag to full blown colony in 6-months.
I have a Horseface (Redlip) Blenny and a Midas in a 75. The Midas was added after the Horseface. No issues at all. The Redlip attacks every other new fish, but didnt even seem to notice the Midas. Midas are fantastic fish. It may be worth a try.
Here is our Midas - my wife named her...
Thanks Spanko - that looks like the stuff.
I pulled out 80% or more. I had to remove the whole rock and pick at it for over an hour. Im going to monitor very closely over the next couple of weeks and try to get out the rest.
Yes, he is quite fun to watch. Lots of life and very bold. Here is a picture of his favorite hidey-hole.
Thanks Hershey that is a great suggestion. I might try that for a while.
I liked it much better when it was nice and pink. I also figured it was healthy, since it seems to be growing.
Yep, Im battling the bubbles. Got lazy and didnt remove them all when there was only a few. Now I have 40-50. A syringe works well. I suck out the inards and then pull out the skin.
I check my water quality often. All the normal parameters (trates, trites, PH, amm, calcium, alk, phosphates) look good. Too many nutrients? So should I cut back on feeding? Is "brown out" a good thing or bad?
I purchased this back in January as a Pink Cats Paw. I was looking at photos today and realized the dramatic change in color. In the store it was under 250w MH, same as I have. What is it, and why the drastic change over the last few months?
Xenia can become a problem. I read quite a bit about it on this board and decided to buy it anyway. It adds a great look to your tank, but if it is successful then you will need to find someone to take your frags when you cut it back. This is what happened to mine after 5-months. In the 2nd...
My wife has a rule that new additions don't get named until after QT and into the DT. Our Midas was in QT for almost 7-weeks and now into the DT for an additional month. Havent figured out what to call it. Any suggestions?
Here are Sally & Dorothy. (My neice named them.) We have Popeye also, but he got beat up and now lives in the QT.
For a while they hosted the Xenia, until about a month ago when we got a RBTA.
I have been taking photos on a monthly basis for the last 6-months. Here are some FTS on 1-month intervals. Starting with November 2008 and ending with one from today.
Well the little bugger finally gave up today. I'm pretty frustrated, I have never worked so hard to try and diagnose and recoup a fish before. And I was so careful to try and get a good healthy one from the start. Oh well, I guess it happens.
Thanks Tizzo. Im pretty crude at photography compared to my wife and and my sister. They do it professionally. One of these days, Im going to have to take some lessons from them.
I found a pic on my phone from a couple of days after I got it. So here it is from a $5 frag after 3 months. The change is pretty dramatic. Probably the best purchase I have made so far.
