    Georgia Aquarium's beluga whale dies

One of Georgia Aquarium’s beluga whales, Nico, died suddenly over the weekend, the aquarium reported Tuesday. Nico, who is estimated to be over 25 years old, was moved in early October from the Georgia Aquarium to SeaWorld San Antonio. Georgia Aquarium still has two beluga whales. The initial...

    Small Tangs?

I want to put a tang in my 75 Gallon reef tank. But, I want one that will stay small. My wife and I really prefer not to have large fish. Are there any tangs that will stay under 4 inches? I don't want them to ever feel cramped.

I am done with Chromis, am looking for schooling

I am looking for a schooling reef-safe fish. I want to add a small school, about 5 to my 75 gallon tank. I am not crazy about cardinals, and chromis are not working out. What else?

Is a Rock Anemone a Risk to a Frogspawn?

My rock anemone has moved and grown. It is just a few inches from my growing frogspawn. Will the bother each other? I can easily move the rock anemone if there is any risk of damage to either. I don't mind them being close, if they don't mind, but I don't want any problems. TIA!~

    Problem with Chromis...

About a week ago, I added 3 blue/green chromis. They were nearly the same size, but the smallest one started having trouble after about a day and a half. It breathed fast and stayed at the bottom of the tank, wouldn't even come up to eat. It disappeared for about half a day, and was stuck to the...

Picked Up a Two Head Duncan Today!

I am so excited. I wasn't planning on getting any corals today, just some macroalgae , but I saw a little Duncan sitting there calling my name. Two head at $15 a head is a deal, around here anyway. I was wanting a duncan, my stock is nearly complete now. The last coral I am looking for is a...

Does this look like a ricordea eating?

I am back with this mystery hitchhiker. The most common suggestion is that it is a ricordea, rather than an anemone. I fed it some shrimp to watch it eat. Does this help determine what it is? And, here it is again open:

This mushroom(?) was a gift from my LFS...

My LFS gave this to me as a bonus gift a few weeks ago. I forgot what she said it was. I guess it is some type of mushroom. It is metallic-like and the picture doesn't do it justice, but does anyone know what it is exactly? The back doesn't ahve a normal mushroom stem, it has bubbles.

Just got through my diatom algae bloom, what's next?

My diatoms have finally balanced out. No longer are they covering the sand and glass with regularity. The blenny and the watchman goby are keeping it all in check. So, is a green algae bloom going to follow? What else can I expect in terms of future, normal 'blooms'?

What is Good Algae to put in the DT?

I want to add some good algae to my display tank to help bring down nitrate levels. I don't have a lighted refugium, so I am wondering if there is beneficial algae that can be added to the display tank? Something that won't take over or disrupt the system, but put out some of the nitrates. Could...

    Are Strawberry Anemones Reef Safe?

Strawberry anemone or club-tipped anemone (corallimorph). I have noticed two of these hitchhiked on a nice piece of live rock. They are small right now, about half and inch across. They, as of yet have little to no color, translucent. Are they reef safe? Will they move? right now they are on...

    Another Mystery--Possibly a starfish

I don't have a picture, sorry, it was out that long. What I saw was three long legs or tentacles. They were coming out of a hole in the rock. The legs were white and smooth, unlike a brittle star. Each leg was 2-3 inches. They "unfurled" like a fern would. I noticed red stripes on one of the...

    Tiny white star on glass....

Today, when cleaning the tank, I noticed dozens of little white star-like creatures on the glass. They are white, the size of a period and have legs varying in length, 4-6 each. ANy idea?

Skunk clown getting friendly with hammer coral?

One of my orange skunk clowns is getting very, very close to the hammer coral, and chasing others away from it. Is he going to try to 'host' to it? Will he damage the hammer coral? Is there any stopping him if that is what he chooses to do?

My 6 Week old 75 Gallon Reef Tank

I hope these pics aren't too big. If they are, let me know, I'll post smaller ones. The full tank: All the fish got it that shot, except the cleaner goby. Here are some of the corals and mushrooms closer: Thanks for looking. Comments, questions, suggestions are greatly appreciated!
