The (un)Official "Rate My Tank" Thread!

Hmmm... there doesn't seem to be as much interest in this topic as I had expected/hoped.

The (un)Official "Rate My Tank" Thread!

As for the "green water" I don't know if it's because of the algae and what-not that I don't scrape off the back wall of the tank making the light reflect a green tinge throughout the tank, or if it's actually the water itself... All of my water parameters are perfect, but believe me... That...

The (un)Official "Rate My Tank" Thread!

BTLDreef - The algae you see in the bottom-right corner is just on the glass where I hadn't put too much time in scraping it for a little while (It's a pain to get in there since I put the LR so close to the glass). Yes, I do plan on adding some more rock and fish (Once I get some more money...

The (un)Official "Rate My Tank" Thread!

Hi All, Not sure if this is the right section for this, but I got this idea from a Cichlid forum that I'm also a member of, and since I haven't been able to find a thread dedicated to this, I thought I'd start my own just to see what kind of interest it might gather. The idea's pretty simple...

    My jellyfish tank diary.

Just came across this thread, I know it's pretty old, but thought I'd try to bring it back to life if there's anything to report... Hyen, what became of your jelly tank? It looked pretty promising!

    90 Gallon Reef/Fish Build Diary

Thanks for the info, maybe I'll give it another try with the store bought remedies, and try removing the dead specimen after. Buuut, back to my earlier post haha. Anyone have any tips/ideas on what could spruce up my tank a little? (livestock/design/etc.) thanks, I'm fairly set on getting the...

    90 Gallon Reef/Fish Build Diary

I was not aware that you were supposed to remove the aiptasia after dosing it. I didn't see that on the instructions that came with it. After applying it, the aiptasia would shrivel up to almost nothing. How would you go about removing it without making a mess of the tank? I've counted somewhere...

    90 Gallon Reef/Fish Build Diary

I'm thinking of getting another 30lbs or so of live rock, and building up the center section of the tank (Maybe kind of like a wall of it, almost to the top). I don't really want to put anymore on the right, because behind the rock with the cup on it, is a nice big area that my lionfish likes to...

They normally have all or most of their polyps out, but I moved them earlier today and they were just starting to come back out when I took the picture

    90 Gallon Reef/Fish Build Diary

It's been a while, so I've got an update just incase anyone's interested. I lost my Foxface a little while back, but I've got some coral and an Anemone in there now, it's finally starting to look like something! (Although I do want more rock, and I still haven't got around to getting a...

Help me switch fron HO-T5 to Metal Halide:

While searching on eBay, I came across a pretty affordable setup which has: 2x 150w HQI MH, 2x 54w T5 HO, and some LED Moonlights, would a setup such as this be suitable for a tank this size? I'd put a link to it, but I don't think you're allowed to on this forum

Help me switch fron HO-T5 to Metal Halide:

I'm interested to hear about this as well... I've got the same sized tank as the OP, housing just 2 fish (for now), inverts, soft corals, an anemone, LS/LR. My goal is to eventually build this into a reef/fish tank. But right now I've just got two Aquatic life T5-HO fixtures (four bulbs total)...

    90 Gallon Reef/Fish Build Diary

Hi all, I know it's been a while, but I've got a little update for you. Nothing huge, just a little more livestock. Also, I've recently lost my Foxface, it got something that looked like popeye, or some other sort of eye trauma, and died shortly after... I've also replaced my skimmer (which was...

    90 Gallon Reef/Fish Build Diary

Yeah I've got The Prizm Pro Deluxe, it's rated for 300 gallons, so it should be enough. It seems to be working pretty good, although it takes a bit of messing around to fine tune it so you don't over/under skim

    90 Gallon Reef/Fish Build Diary

Haha, yeah... still haven't got around to getting a background lol. I originally thought about getting more rock. But after putting this stuff in it seemed pretty crowded already. I want to leave room for my lion to grow. Plus I got anxious and didn't wait for the new rock to fully cure so I'll...

    90 Gallon Reef/Fish Build Diary

Hi everyone, sorry for the lack of updates. I've been super busy with work and what-not lately. Anyways, I've got a picture of my tank setup that I just took today (sorry for the crappy cell phone picture quality, I'll try and get some better ones later). I've added another 52 lbs of fiji rock...

    Ammonia and Nitrate levels question

Thanks for the help beaslbob. Right now my ammonia is somewhere between .25 and .50, I'm using an API test kit as well. I wasn't sure what to think about my nitrates, because 20(+/-) ppm seemed pretty high to me. I'm definitely getting some chaeto soon though, and I guess I'll just have to wait...

    Ammonia and Nitrate levels question

I've got a 90 gallon tank, and my skimmer is rated for 300 gallons, I've got it in a 20 gallon sump that I made. Right now I've only got 40 lbs of rock in the tank, but I'm going to add another 60-65 pounds as soon as I can afford to. My skimmer has a compartment where I can place a bag of...
