It's not a guarantee that the Copperband Butterfly is going to eat aiptasia, especially if they're in a system that is fed. My copperband is a model citizen, never touches any polyps/feather dusters, but he also doesn't go near the aiptasia.
I've found with almost all creatures we can put in our tanks to help with aiptasia with exception of the Aiptasia eating nudibranch, if it is in a fed system, they'll learn they do not have to scavenge for food and will stop eating the nuisance anemones. My peppermint shrimp are the same way, as was my Leather Filefish.
As for the store bought rememedies, you're supposed to remove the dead aiptasia after about 2 hours or so, do you do this?
Have you tried caking them in kalkwasser paste?

I was not aware that you were supposed to remove the aiptasia after dosing it. I didn't see that on the instructions that came with it. After applying it, the aiptasia would shrivel up to almost nothing. How would you go about removing it without making a mess of the tank? I've counted somewhere between 50-75 aiptasia of different sizes in my tank, probably more if you count the very small ones, and I don't want them to start getting too overwhelming. With the aiptasia eating nudibranch, how effective is it? and will it survive off of other foods if it cleans up all the aiptasia?

use pickling lime instead and then suck out the lime and the aiptasia with a turkey baster. that way they can't come back
See, you don't need a background, jsut don't clean the back glass and you will have a realistic background in no time :)

It doesn't say to do so in the directions that I know of, but it will be more effective. I use Aiptasia X and it has worked fairly well for me. I feed the aiptasia at the mouth, and once they shrivel, I stab the base and insert more chemical. All of this is done with no power heads or any filtration running. I wait about 15-30 minutes and then suck out the aiptaisa with a turkey baster. Those that can't be sucked up I scrape off slowly with a credit card into a baggy and throw them out.
The aiptasia eating nudibranch does not eat anything other than aiptasia and if it dies in your tank, I believe it toxifies it, but I'm not completely sure about this. If you live in an area that has a reef club, sometimes you can pass them around to different members as each tank becomes barren of their food source.

Thanks for the info, maybe I'll give it another try with the store bought remedies, and try removing the dead specimen after.
Buuut, back to my earlier post haha. Anyone have any tips/ideas on what could spruce up my tank a little? (livestock/design/etc.) thanks, I'm fairly set on getting the copper and butterfly still, but I'm open to suggestions!
