    i was told that different clown fishes don't get along with one another unless they are tank bred.... clowns and damsels are alike so they will get along... however... since they are aggressive fish they might stress out the yellow clown goby and cause him to jump... hope this helps.. :) oh and...

    i agree with lord fu fu... if it's red, soft, and can be blown off then it could be red slime.. which is a nuisance.. but since you've rubbed it and it is hardened... then it's a good sign... coralline algae is pretty much the only algae you want in your tank... :)

    i have a flame hawkfish... the only shrimp that he hasn't attacked in my tank was the coral banded shrimp... you could try that... of course it's at your own risk...

    my clowns were swimming to the top also... if you just got them... he could be stressed... or there's not enough water circulation in the tank... try getting a koralia pump.... my clowns just needed more water circulation... however, i don't remember anything about them having a big stomach...

    once it completes the cycle then yes you can start with a fish... try to buy one fish at a time... if you buy more at the same time... they are likely to feel stressed out and may jump... they say damsels are always good for beginners... but they ARE aggressive fish... and once you put them in...

    no matter what... it WILL take some time for rock to become "live rock." but if you do put some live rock in there it can help the process move a long a little more. but that's just my opinion. but just be careful for hitch hikers.
