I was at my local fish store and they reccomened doing this.... In a 40 gal tank, Under my tank, divide in half, 1 side with live sand, capulara algea, and live rocks, with a light...and on the other half have skimmer and return pump....Has anyone heard of this? What do u think?

I in the process of curing about 25 lbs of live rock in my 30 gl tank...So far it has been in there for 2 weeks. The amonia level is still way high and has not dropped at all. Is this normal? How long should I expect to wait before it is safe for livestock?
