    Help me with cycling please

before you buy another fish, take a sample of your tank water in for testing. if they aren't happy to do it, find another fish store. i cycled with live rock and damsels and then took the damsels out (they aren't very compatible) before adding my other fish, etc. best of luck, don't give up, damsel

    Stock levels and combos

please don't take offense but you need to read, study, read, ask questions, then read some more. you have taken the first step though. there are many compatibility charts, i think this site has one and so does, ****** fish. a clown fish does not need an anemone to live, and a beginner should be...

    Here fishey...

i used 2 damsels to cycle then got rid of them, traded them back to lfs. i had a piece of screen and moved all the rock over to one side then kind of swished them over and put the screen in to block them from getting back. i was soaked but i got them out. pull the shades and take your shirt off...

    think i identified reef's spiderwebs

okay, figured i better make a new post as the spiderweb one may be gone soon. been doing some resaerch and what you may have is a Vermetid gastropod, they spin a mucousy web to catch their food and are fairly common hitchhikers. [This message has been edited by Admin5 (edited 02-06-2000).]

What are the shrimp-like creatures living in my filters???

to keep corals with success you must have 2-5 watts per gallon of water. a deeper tank needs the high end , a shallow would require the low. i don't have coral as i don't have enough light yet but i have been reading, reading, reading. i just checked out "a practical guide to corals for the reef...

    killed my star polyp

hey ratdogfubar, what do you mean annoying? i love my loney little brown polyp. as i have been making the transition from fresh to salt, and with the exception of a couple beloved snails, it's all i got. so on behalf of all brown polyps everywhere, we must unite and say "we're better dan nuttin'".

    cheap upgrade of light

hello all, i have a 65 gal., reef ready tank, lots of live rock, etc. my lighting is not sufficient for most corals. have 36" flou. bulbs, one 10,000K and the other actinic, the both fit into my hood. now, i understand i need between 2-5 watts per gallon of water. my total combined wattage is...

okay, im still new and still cycling in a 65g. with live rock and damsels(2). i have the bottom covered with some type of crushed coral or something, think it's called agragonite (sp?). someone just suggested i add small grain sand to keep the detritus on top. do i just wash this sand and place...

this site, as well as other mail order fish sites, have compatibility charts. check them out. as far as order in which you introduce i really don't know. there is so much info. on line if you keep reading you are sure to find out. for example if you look up one of the fish on your list you...

    are you lucky with these?

just came home from my lfs and proudly resisted the impulse buy. fell in love with three fish, something called a coral beauty, a clown triggerfish, and a small bright orange fish with black stripes and some purple, i think it was a flame angel. i have a new 65 gal. set up and am still cycling...

    seahorse question

i have always heard that seahorses are not a good idea for the beginner. if you do choose to have them, i read to feed them live brine shrimp. you can "squirt" the brine shrimp near them with a sterile turkey baster.
