What do I do with brown algae? - New to the hobby

I'm pretty sure that your situation is typical and usual. Have you thought of adding maybe some damsels in your tank to help with the cycle. As far as the brown algae, it really looks crappy but it should soon go away. I had the same situation and eventually it went away. You may want to scrape...

    Questions about Yellow Tang

If I may add, my Yellow Tang changes color sometimes, too. He sometimes goes a pale-creamish color. In the morning, he has a little cream-colored line running horizontally over his body. I think this is normal. Sometimes, he will show signs of fading in color around the nose area, but this will...

    Worm, maybe, legs?

It may be the same things that I've discovered. little white wormy critters that seem to stick their heads out about a few inches and retract out of my Live Rock. Very interesting to watch. I don't quite know what they are either but they seem to be of no harm so far.

Speaking of the Skilter 250, I am using it with a 55 gal and it's doing a great job. Any suggestions if I should upgrade? BTW only paid $70.00 for it.

No ammonia in my cycle yet?

Can anyone help me out on this subject. As I understand, ammonia is a toxic element in the tank and if I understand correctly, are you trying to produce it? If so, help me to understand why if it is to be none present. Just a question so that I can understand. I am learning so please be patient!

Just a newcomer and Thanks Flame for the info. It really helps to know that you guys are in it for others as well as yourselves. Algae, Good or bad

I'm new into this and have a new tank with 1 yellow tang, 3 damsels and 3 crabs. I'm seeing purple algae on rocks. Is this good or bad? Also, there is a little light-green on another rock. Is this good or bad? If possible, would like a little run-down on good and bad algae so that I'll know what...
