    Dallas World Aquarium Corals.

Anyone know HOW the DWA gets their LARGE corals....or how any large Aquarium Facility gets theirs? Of course, they can't be found in your LFS, so someone must be getting them somewhere? Do these large facilities...maybe like the Shed Aquarium in Chicago... have 'special sources' that they get...

    The Best Salt?

I use Tropic Marin. I've heard too many people brag about it and have used it for over a year WITH EXCELLENT RESULTS. HEY FISHY7! Where did you get your large pieces of coral. I've been searching around at different LFS and can NOT find a store that sells 'large' pieces like that. If anyone...

    Water Changes...In a 250 gallon Tank??

Yea. I test quite frequently and am a little 'obsessed' at doing this. I think its become a habit..........but I guess not a bad one to get into to. I can tell you one thing though, the inhabitants seem very happy....AND HEALTHY TOO!

    Water Changes...In a 250 gallon Tank??

Thanks, Issac, I was thinking about doing about 20 gallons a week. Even though I have a 250 gallon tank, it is flooded with live rock and beautiful corals. I have to believe there's, at the most, 200 gallons of water in the tank. 20 gallons a week would be about a 10% water change.

    Water Changes...In a 250 gallon Tank??

Thanks for the information. I have always heard that its 'best' to make changes every week instead of every 2 works. Its not as hard on your animals and won't 'shock' them (perhaps) as with doing a LARGE water change at one time. But I don't know if it really makes a difference or not.

    Water Changes...In a 250 gallon Tank??

I have a huge, and beautiful, 250 gallon reef tank with several Tangs in it. I have a refugium and a chiller....the whole package sort of speek. But, anyway, I would like to have any suggestions on HOW MUCH WATER TO CHANGE per week, or every 2 weeks. 20 gallons a week? 30? 40 gallons every 2...

    Blue tang and purple tang

I have a Powder Blue Tang, a Blue Hippo, a Purple Tang, and 2 Yellow Tangs in the same tank! BUT, my tank is also 250 gallons with lots of live rock and corals. Plenty of hiding spaces and 'running around' areas. GET a large tank for these fish....they deserve it. Many people are having...

    NITRATE out of control !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks again for the advise. As I said, you live and learn. I guess even those that have been in this hobby for a while learn new things all the time. Nitrates were the LEAST of my problems....at least I thought....

    NITRATE out of control !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What makes it hard on myself is that I'M NOT A NEWBY AT THIS HOBBY! I've been involved with fish, reefs, corals, and etc. for quite a while! Nitrates came up on me so fast that when I found out what was going on, it was too late for many of the corals. Live and learn everyone....AND DON'T...

    NITRATE out of control !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yep........ NO doubt about it. I was feeding WAY to much food. Fish were happy, corals were NOT! I lost some beautiful pieces (now skeletons) because of an overabundance of nitrate. I was simply stupid! I did NOT realize that high nitrates could affect corals. I was so worried about...

    NITRATE out of control !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hate to admit when I screw up, but many times its the best thing to do to resolve a problem. I would bet money I overfed the fish! I have a 140 gallon reef tank (1/3 of the corals have died because of high nitrates....ALL other tests are fine) and in the tank are: 1 Regal Tang.....about 7" 1...

    NITRATE out of control !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

YES...I DO frequent water changes in a 135 gallon tank. Appx. 20-30 gallons every 2 weeks, and the Nitrate is STILL reading 60-120! Unbelievable! I don't even feed the fish that much, but the Beautiful Corals are wiltering and dieing off. WHAT CAN I DO ???? I use the API test for Nitrate...

    Saltwaterfish.com...where's their corals???

NO, I do not. But I also do not see hundeds of pictures posted posted that say "Wish List" either. I never said the Mods here had anything to do with this and realize that ALL their corals aren't available....but I also don't remember when even half the stock they advertise WAS AVAILABLE.

    Saltwaterfish.com...where's their corals???

Why is it everytime I look at the Saltwaterfish.com website 90% of all their corals say "Wish List." Every time! Don't these people stock ALL THE CORALS THEY ADVERTISE? When was the last time YOU say their website FULLY STOCKED? I have gone elsewhere to get my livestock as I have been very...

    Can you touch corals?

I wear NO gloves and have had NO problems handling any of them. Mine are doing excellent, and the only ones to 'kick off' have been a couple of Elegance Corals........which I swear I'll never buy again!!

Aquarium Chiller ... How do you hook it up ?

Believe me.............temperatures are a nightmare here in North Texas when you're trying to keep a coral reef tank in the upper 70s to near 80. I have a California style home that has a lot of glass and with the air conditioners going constantly, I still have a tough time getting temps. to...

Aquarium Chiller ... How do you hook it up ?

I must be ignorant I guess .... I have a beautiful 150 gallon reef tank and have NOW received a 1/4 horsepower In Line Sea Line Chiller. My house gets very warm here in Dallas, Texas, and even with AC I can NOT get the temp. down to 78-80 degrees...thus a chiller.. BUT, there were NO...

    Aiptasia Overload!

Funny you should say that. I ACTUALLY do own a small lagoon outside of town.. From other threads I have read, you are suppose to INJECT these things WITH A NEEDLE...making sure that you don't 'poke' through them. According to you, all you have to do is find a device and squirt it at them...

    Aiptasia Overload!

Where can you get one of these 'long' syringes? PLUS, a baster does NOT have a needle to 'inject' these guys.....at lease mine doesn't... Needle on this syringe is going to have to be a whopper OR some kind of device to use at the end 'of a long rod' perhaps....
