what are the benifits of adding live sand? when is it introduced into the tank? is there a good way to calculate how many pounds you need to add to the tank to cover the bottom? i have a 150g i'm trying to set up, and i don't want to buy more than i need, and i don't want to buy too little.

i plan on setting up a 150g tank. i've been doing research on the subject prior to setting everything up. i've noticed that some fish are not reef safe. what exactly does this mean, what will happen if you include these fish in a reef system? unfortunately the sites i've looked at doen't...
