    wamp, most poeple who've gotten TBS rock have little or no spikes.. it is shipping within a day or two of being pucked from the ocean, and its is shipped in water... therefore i would think that if i added just the rock, there wouldnt be much of a cycle at all.. the rock would support itself...

    i have no plans on bypassing the cycle or anything, i just wanted to find out if getting some live sand or something would help SEED the tank.. figuring the onlything in there would be southdown and rock thats been out of water for 30 years :) most suggest a cup of sand from a fellow reefer...

    hm.. i could go either way. with regards to cycling, should i put everything in at once... or try and buy half of my LR now, then after it cycles, the other half? i really wouldnt want to buy 50 lbs of LR and then have the cycle kill half the stuff on it. for a 25 lb box of LS from this site...

    RO is reverse osmosis - its a way of clearing the crap out of water.. the end result is supposed to be alot closer to distilled water than just using regular tap water. i live in allentown, pa.. and the water is very hard, and has a high ph... so rather than spending 50 bucks on 100 gallon jugs...
