192 watts enough light for corals?

I agree with MarVida that you can still have a very nice reef without the higher demanding corals. I have 330w PCs over 75g and I keep zoanthids, mushrooms, leathers, and some lps which have all done great. My leathers have even doubled in size in 5 months.

    please ID these things

Sammy's pics and descriptions looks exactly like them. The star polyps look better today but some do look like they are damaged. I found another one in the tank today. I am going to flush them unless someone wants these things. Thanks for the great info!

Their tentacles stay completely extended all the time, even when they are disturbed. They do move allot like a slug.

Another thing I noticed about these guy since I moved them to qt is that they curl up into a ring like this when they are not on the move. Also the star polyps have started opening up better since I removed these things.

    10k vs 6k

I have used 5500 and 10000. Coralline growth exposed under the 5500, but so did the green stuff. I now use 10000 and growth has slowed down little, but the 10000 do look better IMO. I also use 2 blue and 2 actinic 03 PCs to correct the yellowness that my 2 daylight PCs create.

    calcium and growth

When I started keeping corals a few months ago I started using Kent A&B. Before that I didn't dose any CA for years, I just did monthly water changes using IO mix and w/ just that I had great coraline growth.

I have 3 of these that hitch hiked with my star polyps. They blended in real well with the polyps b4 they started moving. They look like a worm with long white green tipped tenticles and they are about 1 in long. The move pretty fast. I moved them into QT from the main tank to be on the safe side.

the MOST colorful corals that do well together

I like zooanthids. they come in many colors, are very hardy, and are great for filling bare spots in your tank.
