Been feeding them a mix of shrimp and plankton that's marinated in garlic. Might take her by the LFS to see if they can tell me what's wrong with her!

    Maroon Clown

Hey all I was wondering if anyone could assist me on this. I have a 40 gallon reef tank that has been up and established for 2 years. The tank's only fish occupants are a pair of maroon clowns....a male and female. Over the past month, the female clown has started to act very odd and it seems...

    Unsafe to add cleanup crew?

Hey all my nitrates are still very high....like 100-150. I am doing water changes to get it down so hopefully sometime soon it will be back to the normal level. I was going to go purchase a clean up crew today from the LFS, but now that the nitrates are high, I am hesitant. Was basically...

    Good point and shoot??

Hey all I currently have a Canon powershot and was looking to trade it in for something not as bulky. I have narrowed my choices down to the Sony DSC-T7 and the Canon Elf (can't remember model number). The only real negative I heard about the Sony was the battery life which can be under an hour...

Hey all I just got my Milwaukee TDS meter and am running around the house messing around with it. It appears to be already calibrated for me as it came with a piece of paper attached stating it was calibrated to 800ppm. So I go and dip the meter into my RO/DI water and it reads 0...cool! I...

    Pumps and return pumps

Hey all I received my MR-2 skimmer a couple of days ago and am now looking into some pumps. Seems that I will be needing a pump to shoot water into the skimmer and of course, a return pump. I plan on having my skimmer inside my sump as some people have told me it works better in sump. On the...

    Clean Up Crew and Nitrates??

Hey all I'm looking to restock my clean up crew due to a couple of deaths from high nutrients in the water. I just checked my water and all is fine except for nitrates being on the high side. I was looking to put in some red legs and some nassarius snails. Would these critters survive in a...

    Pumps for protein skimmer

Hey all I'm looking into getting an MR-2 protein skimmer for my 140 gallon tank. Was told earlier that I would need a pump to shoot the water into the skimmer (pressure pump?) and a return pump back to the tank. I'm gonna go with a external return pump so that water temperature will not be an...

    Dissolved Nutrients...GRRRR!!!!

Hey all I have been having a problem with disolved nutrients in my tank big time. I have a brown film on top of my water and a red hair algae growth on my sand bed. I have done a 30% water change last week which seemed to fix it, but it's back again. I tested my readings and everything was fine...
