1.008!

(make that 1.018 not 1.008)
I had a sump malfunction this morning and with my auto-top off it dropped my salinity to 1.018. I need to know how fast I can restore it up to 1.025?? My coral are awful, turning in on themselves and closing up.... It's my fault, I thought the auto-top off had broken so I didn't think to check the salinity this morning when it happened

I did a water change in my 55 gallon tank (20 gallon sump) when things started to go bad, again, I didn't consider the salinity. So the water change had water at 1.025 and was around 17 gallons... that means my salinity all night was WAY lower than 1.018.
So how fast can I move it back up? Do you think there's any chance of saving the coral?

I have a second part.. for those mathy type people. If I have 60 gallons of water at 1.018 and I have mix-water of 1.030.. how much do I need to add to get my salinity up to 1.025?

I would do a 10% water change daily starting with the 30 & adjusting as needed.

as long as there are no inverts or corals the lower salt won't matter. in either case you only want to raise it by 0.002 per 24 hour period.
