1 cleaner clam for every 5 gallons?

I checked out the post about cleaner clams and decided to give it a go. I put 6 in my 6 gallon fuge, and they cleaned the skudge right out of there overnight.
I saw in a couple of posts a recommending of 1 clam per five gallons of water. That seems a little high to me, since I have also read that they filter about a gallon per day each.
I have a 150 gal tank and cannot imagine putting 30 cleaners in there, but I am open to changing my mind.
Should I go the full 30, or are the 10 I have now total enough (6 in the fuge, 4 in the DT)?

I would start with 5. if they live more than a month add a couple more.

Isn't M. mercenaria the Nothern clam and the M. campechiensis is the southern?

Update on my clams:
added 10 on 9/16 and 9/17
Today, 9/21, there are only 3 left.
They seem to have done a good job cleaning out my little fuge, but I don't think they are long term players in my tank.

But the carnivores in my tank say thankee very much for a nice fresh clam now and then
