1 Clown or Two

Ok so I've been reading about how it can be a bad idea to have more than two clownfish. Now if I were to get 2 does it have to be a male & a female? If the --- of the fish depends then I guess I should just get one, right? BTW the tank is a 55g. Thanks in advance.

most pet shops have juvis which are he/she clowns when put in together in your tank if same size they will change --- eventually i would go with 2 juvis and watch them grow.

From everything I've read on them, it's best to buy them as a pair since they will become a pair quicker. If you buy one at a time, it will take alittle longer for them to pair b/c the first one will have already established his/her territory. I've heard that the older one will kill the new one as well.
So, buy 2 juvi, watch them pair up and mate.

If you are going to want two eventually I would buy them both at the same time.
