So ive been on Hypo for almost a month and a half. Its been about 2 weeks since ive seen any ich and tonight theres 2 or 3 spots on my blue tang again...Im pretty bummed. How long does this process usually take. I know you have to leave the hypoed tank alone for at least 3-4 weeks after no signs of ich and i was getting ready to get back to my tank back to normal.
How long has this process taken for you if youve done this...i want to get things moving along with my tank again.

the fish can reinfect and you need in this case to treat again.i am now in the same case as you my blue powder was treat in hypo (a new fish) and after i finish the cycle i start to increase the salinity and i saw again white spot on him .... i start again the hypo
the problem with the blue tang that they are the most sensitive tang stress quick and very hard to keep .

you need to keep the treatment agian (not to start over) for 4 weeks , every fish i buy after i quarantine him about 4 days i find out that he have ich i treat all my new fish in hypo. in my main tank i don't have any problem and it's the first time that i am treat a fish one more time from the beginnig during the treatment because the fish was reinfect.

sorry to hear this guys /gals which ever the case may be.unfortunately hypo is not a 100 % effective cure it may however kill off the paresite in the main tank due to lack of food for the time being the fish are not in it. but as for your fish the only 100% cure is medication but even though your fish can look parestite free with hypo when you return them they may still be harboring the paresites when they are returned to the main tank.for future infestations.
