10 gall quarantine....ok you tang police, what do you think?

I will be getting a very small blue tang in a couple of weeks, I am talking max of 2 inches. I want to quarantine for 4 weeks...can I do it in the quarantine tank I have here ...it is only 10 gallon. Don't yell at me!! because I am asking firsT!:jumping:

just make sure he has somewhere to hide , and the 10 gallon will do fine for a short time like you said. congrats by the way on the new tang!!

I will do that. I am going to be hanging an old filter that I have on the back of my tank now..so that I can get a filter to have a bioload on it...how long do you think that will take? Then I will use my water change water to fill the 10 gallon right before he comes home. I am going to put a piece of pvc piping in there for him to go hide with ...I think that will work well. He is on order, so not really here in town yet through my lfs....not exactly sure the size he will get, but he knows I want small/tiny.....cool, eh?

too cool, and if you use water from your big tank you wont have any waiting period, just put her right in. I too rescently purchased a very small hippo tang, but she nrver made it out of the drip bucket, too bad too she was a cutie. this lady that i clean her tank was ordering from a different site and i said get me a hippo, and i would just take it off her bill,it didnt make it, so needless to say SWF.Com once again wins over, ive never lost a fish ordered from them. show us some pics when ya can!

I hear it is harder to keep them alive when they are tiny but my tank is 90 gall and I want to get it as small as I can. I will be upgrading tank sizes in a year or so to a 180...I am hoping my lfs does have a problem keeping a small one alive. I will know tuesday if they get were able to order it. I was nervous about getting it online here since it has no warranty...if it is doa they won't do a thing...oh well!! thanks for advice though!
