this is just my opinion but those mercury thermometers are a big nasty accident waiting to happen u may want to get one from ur lfs or wally world that sticks on the outside and is flat and black they like a 1$ and there is no chance of you or ur tank getting poisioned or lil glass shards or beeds in ur tank. some fish, power head, or you may break it someday and that would be bad. anyways

100% positive Hagen makes it, costs about $2.50. The glass thermos are terrible and they do break easy.
