ok, to your suprise and mine, i finally got a 10 gallon tank today, but it has a 13watt light, what type of corals can i put in it, or should i buy another 13watt light then have 26watt total?
I really want to have a tank full of yellow polyps. would this lighting be well enough 13 watts? or 26watts, or what??

i know but i didnt want to put that much money, i really did consider the 96watts. Could my lighting support The Yellow Colony Polyp Corals in my tank, or will it not work???

The lower the lighting, the darker they become. On the reefs they are exposed to direct sunlight...thus the brighter colors.
You can probably keep them under the lighting you have, but they will not be as bright or do as well. :D

They'd probably survive, but they sure won't thrive. I'd go with something stronger if you want really nice polyps. :D

my first coral was yellow polyps, i had them under NO lights and they looked terrible. it was easy to see that they were not happy at all. then i got a 2x55 watt pc lights and they made a miraculous recovery. if you do the 26 watts will it be PC ro NO lighting ? if its pc then you will be fine, if its NO then i am not sure but i have seen people keep mushrooms under No lighting. hth

26 watts of pc should be more then enough to keep yellow polyps, and they should be bright yellow and not "dark".:D

a tank of yellow polyps sounds great ! better than an anemone ! yes i would suggest that you get a small powerhead. do you have any other flow on it ?

An overflow is where the water "overflows" down into a sump underneath the tank. There are also hang-on-back overflows that the water is siphoned out, then drained down to the sump.
I doubt such a small tank would have an overflow though.
