id go with a marineland hang on back filter that fits a 30 galon tank, so that should give you enough flow and filtration. As for light idk i would make my own for a 10 gallon.
You should have about 15 lbs of live rock 10 lbs of live sand.
And then i think you should be good.

Also I have about 20 lbs. of baserock...could I just get a couple pounds of live rock and seed the base rock?..The Base rock was actual Tonga Branch LR, but when I gave up the first time on saltwater tanks I just took it out and put it in a box...so now it's dead.

Yes, you can use that. Like you said though, be sure to add a couple pounds of some quality live rock. As for a filter I would run an aquaclear 70. Find one used on craigslist or sleazebay, and pull everything out of it. You can run some chemi-pure and purigen in it. A koralia nano would also serve you well for some extra flow in the tank. As for lighting, what are the dimensions of the tank? I know you mentioned in another thread that you wanted sps, so be prepared to spend some money on lights.

That is too much light and odyssea fixtures are complete junk. A 20 inch sunpod would work. There are also a bunch of t5ho's that would work on your tank as well. I would recommend the sunpod though. In the 20" version, they have both 70 and 150 watt fixtures.

I would go with the 70 watt. I just searched on google and found multiple places selling them.
You could go with the 150 watt, you would just have to be careful to put lower light corals in a little bit of shade.

i agree with subie, if you are willing to pay the $150+ you might as well fork over a tiny bit more for the sunpod, you will be much happier in the long run. As far as everything else i agree get a AquaClear 70 for filtration with purigen and chaeto. A koralia nano would also help a lot in preventing dead spots plus if you plan SPS you will need a lot of flow anyways. You should also look into an Auto Top off unit since im assuming you will be running the tank without a top and the MH will probably cause a lot of evap especially if you end up needing to run some fans to cut down on the temperature.

yeah, but will a 70 watt HQI Sunpod support SPS and Clams or should I go with a 150 watt? I was going to get a top, but would that make it worse off than if I left it topless?
Thanks,
Kevin

70 should be enough. Stick with topless, you will have to top the tank off more, but if you ran a top you would most likely run into heat issues.

what about the 70 watt viper clamp on? Its like 150$ new i think
I've been hearing about those things catching fire alot lately lol... I hanged a pendant 150w over my tank with emt conduit... looks good IMO.
The nova extreme pro T5HO 20inch would work too.

Yeah, I was looking at the Viper lamp last night, but if it's going to be a ire hazzard in my house I don't know if it's worth it.
