10G QT - how many fish?

I have a 10G Hospital / QT up and running (it has been cycled for over a month).
I was thinking of keeping a fish in there to keep the bio cycle etc going.
A damsel would be no good as it would harass new arrivals.Chromis need to be kept in a group?
Can you think of a fish that would be ok on it's own for most of the time, and will not bully new arrivals.
Would 2 Chromis and a new arrival (in QT before main tank) be too much for 10G.
Any new fish I get will be of Gramma, percula etc size.

10 gallons is pretty small. I would only have one med. fish or 2 really small fish. Just put in a firefish, or a few neon gobies. A small damsel would be fine, but may outgrow it. If you want more fish upgrade to a bigger tank.

The 10G tank is a quarantine / hospital tank. I have a 35G main tank.
What I want is to keep a fish in the QT to keep it running. I need a fish that won't harass any new fish that I will be quarantining before adding to main tank.

You can jusr add some flake food once in a while to keep up the bio filter.

I know of someone that used a freshwater mollie.

fw mollies can work well
they acclimate very well to sw, and can even breed in sw as well. definitely will not harass any thing that i can think of.

i use mollies in my QT , it's 20 gal with 3 mollies in it.... and yes they breed in there.

would a 20 gal. hex be a good q tank? I also have a 10 gal. glass tank that I am thinking of making into a q tank. which one do you think? I have a 55 gal tank.

IMO I think a 10 gallon is fine for new arrivals, its temporary (ususally the new fish isn't huge). Also, I agree with slick, add flake food to keep it cycling--thats what I do and has seemed to work for me for the last 9 -10 months. HTH

The QT is a hospital tank aswell. I need to keep it running because you never know when it will be needed.

For a q tank is it recommend to havegravel, cc or ls or just sand on the bottom? Or nothing? Or does it even matter?

So, what you are saying is, if you take a "used" filter media out of your main tank and put it into the QT's filter, in a matter of minutes your freshly mixed water (100%) will be good for fish?
The part about no sand or rock makes sense, but is just water enough to sustain life? If you filter the heck out of the water will that take the place of the rock and sand doing it's thing?
