Hi
I'm setting up a 220g and will purchase a 110g tank with about 180lbs of LR. Is gonna take me at least a good whole month for me before a have water in my 220. My question and thinking is want it to set up a 110 in my garage with all the LR in there and raise the calcium level up very high so all the rocks could be super deep purple before I introduce in my new tank?

Unless you have ac in your garage I would say that wont work because of the heat in it.

Your going to get alot more than coraline in those temp in a garage and nothing is going to live in the temps to clean you rock off to keep it in check IMO I would put it inside

if that the case i could even keep it in the house but wonder if that is brilliant idea?

I don't see how it's going to be worth the trouble.
In a month, the rocks probably aren't going to get "super deep purple" no matter how high the calcium is. You'll just end up making it "snow" in the tank raising the calcium really high.

my tank is situated in the living room wall...but you access it in the garage.
It's basically in the garage with a little room built around it. I don't have problems with heat.

You can set it up in the house when your tank is ready just transfer water over to new tank with rock.Regardless if you have the rock it need to be in a tank or something to live in,or a plastic tub with a sump pump and heater for a month.Either or is ur only option unless you dont have to get the tank and rock rite now..

how about this.
Because of my new tank is gonna be at my work place. I'll set that 110 tank with LR and LS in it at my work place also and wait until I have the other set up right and transfer everything over. Is gonna be tough for me to fine place for that tank but i proberly could squeze it in.
In the mean time.
Should I raise the calcium up or not?

Just run everything normal and get some coraline excelerator that will speed the process up.

Hi all
Just took deliver of a 110 with lots a LR and LS. I'm planning on clean out the tank and keep all the LR with new fresh mix SW in there so later when my 220 is ready i can transfer everything over that's way could save a little time.
Next, I need help with the sand because a lot of the sand is very muddy and black. Right now is place in 2(5gl) bucket.
WHAT SHOULD I DO?
