12 gallon nano cube owners: NEED HELP!

Can you please tell me how you have your nano cube set up. This tank is going to be a reef tank so I took out the bio balls and rings. I left the block sponges in the first overflow and have nothing in the next 2 sumps. My problem is the water doesn't seem to be cycling through quick enough and is stagnant. The top has a little scum and little white particles floating about. I have the powerhead turned sideways to provide flow at the top of the water and below. So the top is getting adequate flow. I started this tank a week ago with 12 pounds of live rock and 15 pounds of sand. What am I doing wrong?

you can try putting a larger pump in, but i have not had a flow problem with mine. i have the heater in the back so you dont see it and i also put some small rocks in the back in place of the bio balls to help with filtration. good luck with yours
