12 in Refugium?? worth it?

Hello just wondering if you think a 12 inch HOB refug with 6 inches of space for sand and cheato is even worth having. I only have a 10 gallon tank but i could get the 18 if nessisary. what do you all think?

do the biggest you can.Fuges are very good for nutrient export and i think having one is better than nothing.
