Thanks! I have a 40 gallon set up to the left of that tank, I didn't want to move it very far so that the transition when the tank is ready will be a lot easier. I have 3 false perculas (had 4 but one passed, 2 of them I have had for about 8 years and the one that passed was one of the old school percs), 2 black & white clowns, 1 gold band maroon clown, 1 tomato clown, 1 firefish goby, 1 royal gramma & 1 lawnmower blenny. When I get this tank set up I plan on adding a Naso Tang (wife loves those, says they look like drag queens, lol) and possibly a powder blue tang, but I am a little worried about those 2 getting along. As for corals, I have 1 metallic green wall Hammer, 1 branching Hammer, 1 branching Frogspawn (my favorite), 1 silver Xenia, 1 pom pom Xenia, 1 Green Goni, 1 purple Goni, Super Green Zoa polyps (150+ colony rock), 1 Pipe Organ, 1 Starburst Polyp & some blue/orange rics. I can't wait to add them to the new tank, they will be stoked as it's a little crowded now! LOL

i really like the rockwork, alot of nice nooks for some small fish and i really like the tank. Get yourself a nice black or blue backing to hide some of that cabling. All in all, great job

I thought about that but wasnt sure as to how much of the cabling will be shown, because right now, the side that you see the cabling on is the side my 40 gallon is still running, so I just keep my light plugged into that power strip because I don't want to mount the new strip yet as I haven't decided on how many powerheads to use etc. With that being said the majority of the cables will be hid once I am finished, but the wall behind the tank is that off-white color, so a blue or black background would still probably be a good idea. Good lookin' out dude!

No doubt! This isn't my first dance! LOL BUT, something I can't wrap my head around is the fact that my tank has been up & running for about 3 days, and I checked my water parameters yesterday and everything was reading ZERO! My ammonia, nitrites/trates are zero, calcium right at 400ppm, 8.4ph. It's kind of weirding me out because I have NEVER had a tank, after 3 days read perfect numbers. So I waited a little bit and re-ran the tests with the same conclusion. I really want to start my transfer but I know better! About 120 lbs. of the lr in my tank was given to me by my buddy who I bought the tank off of, and before he stored it, he scrubbed it clean, rinsed it and stored it in a rubber maid container for a couple of months before I bought it. With that being said, I took most of the rock (another 75-100lbs.) out of my established tank to help with any "seeding". I have no clue as to if that is part of the reason, because mostly "die off" is what causes the spikes in the water parameters mentioned above, so I am thinking that because the rock was scrubbed and well taken care of, I don't have high numbers. The sand bed is crushed coral/aragonite substrate topped with carribbean live sand. Any help, suggestions, comments?

I like the rock

I'd still wait a while to see what happens as far as water params. Better be safe than sorry. Test daily so you don't miss anything if you have to.

I keep getting good readings on my water parameters. My ammonia, nitrites/trates, phosphate, alkalinity, ph, this is blowing me away. Not to mention my water has totally cleared up, not even a drop of cloudiness. It took all of 24 hours!

Have you put in anything to jump start the cycle? If you transfered most of the rock from an established tank it could be that you will not see much of a cycle because of the bacteria colonies are established in the rock, but I would still add a raw shrimp or ghost feed the tank so that you are sure that you have a source of ammonia to get the cycle started. If after doing that your numbers are still good for a week or so I would say that you are good to go.

I did that! In fact, it's Sunday now, and I transferred my stuff over on Sat. Everything is doing very well with no problems. Of course I still check my numbers and my ammonia appeared but only very slightly, that's attributed to the bio load, but with that being said, it's gone today, so we are good! I will post some pics on Monday! To answer your question, I did transfer all of my rock from my 40 gallon to help to seed the new rock (was used in a previous tank, but had been stored for a couple of months) and that rock had been in my tank since 1999-2000! We are golden!

Glad to hear that everything is going well. If you moved rock from an established tank that is why you never saw a cycle. Just keep an eye on it for the next week or so and you should be good.

That's the plan! Thanks dude! I purchased a spotted sweetlip over the weekend, and it's AWESOME! Our Naso Tang (wife loves it) will be in tomorrow! Whoo hoo!

got pics of the sweetlip? and did you get the blonde naso or regular?
Being that my DT is undergoing hypo for ich, I would recommend a QT. I'm setting up a 55gal QT now and all additions will be going in it first - learned my lesson the hard way, but luckily no fish lost.
BTW, I really like your rockwork.

I'd wait before moving anything over. I was sure that my 150 didn't have a cycle with all cycled LR and LS and after 2.5 weeks I finally got a tiny ammonia spike. No rush!!
Rock work looks good! Just be sure that there is enough space in the back for water to flow so you don't get any dead spots.

I got the regular Naso! The wife says that it reminds her of a drag queen because it looks like it has makeup on! LOL I will take some pics on my lunch break and upload when I get back to work! He likes to hang under the ledges so it may be hard to get a pic, but it's the spotted sweetlip, brown base w/ white dots, and apparently when it matures it will flip flop it's pattern, white base w/ black dots! It's an awesome fish! I have a 40 gallon QT! And thanks, I am pretty anal when it comes to the rock work, at least that's what my wife says. I could be sitting on the couch and it hits me and I will have to go move some stuff around! LOL But thank you very much, it was tons of hard work setting it up & all of that!

Read the thread, I have already moved my stuff, but it was a tough call. After 2 weeks of good water parameters I started ghost feeding and still nothing. I put my fish in with a tiny rise in ammonia (.01) but that's contributed to bio load. With that being said, ammonia test this morning was back to 0 ppm! Everything seems to be fine! I am keeping my fingers crossed for at least 2 more weeks, testing everyday, scanning for any changes in behavior etc.! This isn't my first dance. I have been doing this since 1999-2000, but I do appreciate your suggestions, keep 'em coming! I guess I did a decent job hiding my powerheads because there are 2 in the back! I have a total of 4 powerheads and my pump is rated at 1000gph and I made darn sure there aren't any dead spots! We are golden!
