im setting up a 120 48x24 and was looking for a good pick on trigger, puffer, blennie, tang, eel, maybe even a wrasse ,,,,,, i have a 125 reef tank know and always looking for a total fish only person to help me out
first of all, you are gonna have some people that say a 4 foot tank is to small for a tang, which is true usually, but since this is a 120..it is debatable.
here are some of my picks
trigger- bluethraot, niger, huma
puffer- dogface, porcupine
tang- yellow, kole, purple
wrasse- a wide variety, including a paddelfin or Banana
I would not do a blenny, especially with a trigger.
Good luck
your right on the blenny with the trigger , big mess ,, i have 2 tangs in my 125 its 6ft long but all are very happy ,naso, hippo, alot is said about different fish togeather , i have a bamboo shark in there also with cleaner shrimp and clowns , foxface, wrasse, keyhole, all are happy and well ,... thks for your input i like the clown trigger also , but i think the pork puffer is the one
Why not a blenny with a trigger? I have had a Lawmower blenny in my 150 aggressive, his fish mate's being a humu humu, porc. puffer, regal tang, naso tang and a 3 spot damsel. My humu humu never bothered the lawnmower blenny. Have other people had problems? This is the first I have heard or read about that problem.
I personally wouldn't put a lion and a trigger together, but as always there are exceptions to the rules....I know of one 150g tank that has a large lion and a medium size humu humu. They have been together for over 2 years. I asked him about it and he said that he has never seen the trigger bug the lion. My son has wanted me to get a lion, but with having Roy the trigger fish I won't do it.
Huh I thought it was the lionfish that would eat all other fish like triggers, puffers, tangs etc if they were smaller than lions mouth.
How about butterfly? Can they all go together? I like all those fish and having difficulty which one to choose. Definitely I like lion more just for the looks though.
So is it ok to put a bigger lionfish like around 6-8 inches and smaller triggers, puffers, tangs, butterfly that are around 3-5 inches.
Thanks
I'd be more worried about the possible wrasse and the blenny. Keep in mind that some wrasses can be downright evil. My lunar killed my blenny after a short while together.
