im waiting for my 125 tank to cycle; have 1/2 the rock in which came from a cycled tank. Having brown algae growth is this normal? Should the lights not be on? @ t12 actinic 2 t12 10000k both 36". For now. untill i get my MH; then it wont be fowlr. My buddy wants me to put 2 400 MH on the tank. Someone else said 2 175 Mh. Is bigger better? I thought that only refered to one thing....Motorcycles

175w should work fine, probably just get better coral growth with 400w MH.
I run 250's on my 90 which is just shorter than your 125 and growth is great.
You really don't need to run lights until after you cycle... if you want to no longer than a couple hours a day and that will keep algae growth down.... but fowlr and adding halides don't go hand in hand -- just come out and say you want corals

Its only fowlr untill I get the rest of my rock , lights, and make sure parameters are ok, and nothing is dead
