125 gallon return pump

My less than internet savy co-worker has recently found himself with a bad case of the salt waters (no thanks to me )
and just bought a 125 gallon tank used from a friend of his. We're in the process of setting up his filtration and we need to know what size of return pump he'll need. I'm pretty sure the bulkheads are at least 1" and he'll be pumping up about 5' to 6'. Any suggestions? Thanks experts.

From reading your post, I assume there are at least two 1" bulkheads. Using Durso standpipes, two drains would allow somewhere from 1200-1600gph. 5-6 feet of head pressure pretty much necessitates an external pressure-rated pump (MAK4 and Iwaki MD55RLT come to mind), though a Mag 18 would also work well if your friend wanted a submersible pump (a Mag 18 would probably put out 1000-1200 gph depending on the final height of plumbing and any other hinderances in the return line).
By the way, I hope you guys stay friends once his credit card bills start rolling in!
