Hey all,
My buddy gave me his 12 gallon aquapod because he upgraded to a 29 gallon... But the only thing wrong with it is that the FAN BLEW ON IT... I opened up the lid, and pulled the fan out; its a 60mm ball bearing fan, just like what you find in older pc's.... DOES ANYONE KNOW WHERE TO FIND A REPLACEMENT NOT ONLINE? I dont want to have to order it, i checked circuitcity/bestbuy/compusa; no luck....
Oh yea and FYI, there's actually room for TWO fans in the 12g aquapod, so if i find a replacement fan, im gonna get two
!!! But yea, if anyone's ever replaced the fan or whatnot, let me know please!!

Look for an old power supply to a computer or pay radio shack a visit and make sure your wallet is fat. For what radio shack charges for one you can but 3 or 4 of them online. Most Radio Shacks stock that size fan.

yea... so i ripped out a cpu fan from an ancient computer sitting in my closet... the amperage on the stock fan was 0.18A and this one is 0.19A, perfect!! The best part about all of this is that while installing the new fan, i dropped it into the tank (ahem... full of water...) HOWEVER! it still works
i just dried it off...
I had scoped out stores, and they were asking like $20.00 which is ludicrous, even repair shops wanted that much for it... The thing sounds like a damn vaccum cleaner, but i hope it gets the job done!! I'm glad things turned out, i didnt want to pay $8.00 and wait like five days just for a fan from newegg.com...

This is funny they have a link to the BBS-online. However, the particular store address for the site on their WEB page isn't a member

Alright, now long did your friend have the aquapod before you acquired it?? If less then a year, if you contact the manufacter...Current USA they SHOULD send you a fan for no charge whatsoever.

The cheapest place to get fans is going to be Jameco (dot com).
Their web site is dog slow but they should have exactly what you are looking for.
Other places to get fans for decent prices:
All Electronics
MCM Electronics
Parts Express
American Science and Surplus (use google to find them)
The one thing I will caution you on is to beware of the current draw of the fans. Different fans of the same size can run at different speed with different blade count or pitch, etc, so they have different airflows. These changes usually affect the current draw. In computers this is usually no problem since PC power supplies have more than enough spare power, but the little power supplies in the aquapod, nanos, etc can easily be overloaded by the wrong fan and burn up, either immediately or eventually.
The power draw should be stamped right on the fan motor, it should be anything from .10 to 1.0 amps (or 100 - 1000ma). Try to find a fan that's as close to that rating as possible, or lower.

Should not need paper work. It has a 1 year warranty, and a serial number. Its easy for Current to verify. Call em or send em an email. I do not kmow if it applies in your area or not, but in htis state it is not required for proof no matter what a company says to retain a receipt if an item retails for $75 or more....Regardless they shold take your word for it as the serial and date of manuf. plus the fact they are barely out a year now anyhow.
