I wouldnt use anything from hd for a sealent. If it has any anti-mildew or fungus your introuble.

Not sure.. If you lose siphon your pump is going to keep running so I would say no. On power outage yes. 1 year and 1 month never lost siphon eveything is DIY.

steelerglue stated.. Do a search on google for IPS weld on #3 or #4. This is what is used to glue acrylic.
