i have had my tank running for about 3 or 4 days now. it doesnt have any live rock in it or anything besides crushed coral and saltwater.
i know the cycle hasnt started since i havent got anything in it
the tank is an oceanic biocube 14g. i am doing the maxi jet 900 pump upgrade, and i will be tossing the bio balls and replacing it with media.
here are my questions
1. the LFS said crushed coral will help keep my PH steady, which is why i bought it. i have about 10 to 12 lbs of crushed coral, and want to add some live sand on top to help the stuff inside have a nice ground to walk on. with as much CC as i have would 5 lbs of live sand be good or should i get 8 (or another amount)
2. is 21 lbs of LR good (too much??) for a 14 gal biocube. i am planning on getting a mix of timora and bali. if 21lbs is too much, about how much should i get. i plan on putting in 1 or 2 occ clowns in. thats it for fish (although i dont know if it matters)
3. i will be getting fully cured LR because i heard it makes your cycle time much less. is this true, if so, about how much time would you expect the tank to cycle using fully cured LR and LS
thank you for your time
