15 minute moonlight project

Hey all just thought I would share with you my recent moonlight project I did for my tank. Although it does not simulate the lunar cycle or anything, it gives the fish a simulation of moonlight.
Equipment:
Go to Home ***** or something similar and pick up two light bulb sockets. I used plastic ones. The ones I used had a flat bottom and two screws for wiring. Also pick up the length of wiring you need, a plug for power and two blue bulbs. I used 2 11 watt party bulbs.
On the first socket I connected the wire and ran it to the other light socket where I connected the other end of the wire and the wire that goes to the plug. After connecting the wires I screwed the lights into the canopy on my tank. Connected the power cord to a timer and I was all set. Pretty easy project and a beautiful look when the lights are off.

Did you use blue or red bulbs??? Blue bulbs,or even black light bulbs are best for simulating moonlight.Red bulbs are good for looking at the critters that only come out after the lights are off. Most fish and inverts can't see this red spectrum of light.

I used blue light bulbs. I looked at black light, but wasnt sure that would be sufficient enough.

I had two 8watt flo type blacklight tubes in my 130 awhile back.It was pretty cool.Not only did it give a low level light,but made the colors on the fish and rock glow.

black light as a moon light, not a bad idea, but i dont know weather its true or not, but ive heard that black lights (over time)blind fish, (lol i can see it now) wake up 1 morning and all the fish are bumping into the glass and rock)then of course theres a blue tang thats acting like stevie wonder lol

I have one of those laser light tank deals and it looks awesome at night. I use blue and green colored lasers which make the water look awesome. It's rather spendy, but very awesome effect with little manual work.
