i'm moving my false perc to an 18 gallon. i am wanting to get him a real anemone, he just has a little plant pot right now but i want to get a real anemone. i have 65 watt power compact lighting. is there any sort of anemone i could get a false perc for an 18 gal with that lighting?
someone said a carpet could grow too fast for an 18 gal?
if not i'm gonna buy a fake one atleast, he will enjoy it better then a pot maby, haha.
PS: i recently got him/her a boy/girl friend so i will be moving both into 18 gallon together

No first your tank is too small for any anemone IMO. Most will out grow it quickly and secondly your lighting isnt intense enough for keeping an anemone alive long term. Although BTA's can IMO survive under PC lighting I dont believe you have enough wattage to sustain one.

awww, that stinks. unfortunatly, until i turn 16 and can get a job, i'm on a budget thta won't let me get anything more then the PC i already got.
i guess they will have to live with a fake anemone for now.
thanks for you help

Hey don't go and do the fake thing just yet.
They do like hairy mushrooms and normal mushrooms to host in. Another great coral is the toadstool leathers. All these and mushrooms don't require the type of light that an anemone would.
Another thing to remember is that the percs don't really tend to like anemones all the time. They are mostly tank bred and don't have a clue what an anemonne is.
My little perc loves the toadstool and the hairymushrooms to sleep in and hide in.
My tank of 10 gal and 4 yrs old now has a bubble tip anemone, which my saddle back just loves. I use PC lights and have to admitt that the anemone would do much better under better lighting. So I would not advise getting one.
Personally after having one, they are great in the right tank but they are not for me. I would love to have more mushrooms, polyps, ricoridia.
Hope this helps you a bit.

thanks! the tank is gonna be a mini reef as well, mostly leathers, so i will probably be getting mushrooms anyway, so i might as well get hairy ones, haha.
this will be alot better then a rubber anemone. right now i have my clowns in a 10 gal with a pot. hopefully they will be much happier in the 18 gallon
