I have Tiny Tims (my ***** rescuee) new tank assembled and cycling.
For the DSB I used 2 1/2 inches washed aragonite and then about
1 1/2 inches LS, and to that mix I added several cupfuls of sand from my existing 125 gallon reef.
I also killed two birds with one stone and took about 12 gallons out of my existing tank (which I then added fresh salt water too, so basicly a water change) and put that in the new tank and then topped off the new tank with fresh-mixed saltwater.
The 18 gallon came with a built in overflow that goes to an area with filter material and then a protein skimmer (very similar to CPR BakPak), small area for bio-balls/bale and then small sump with return pump and built in bulkhead.
I got a few pounds of LR today and put that it.
My question is: How long do you think it will take to cycle?? I'm thinking not too long. I'll start checking water parameters in a few days.
There was a crab on the rock so he can be the test subject.
