i have an established 180 gal tank, with about 50 gal sump. the tank has been set up over a year. currently its a reef tank, but im thinking of moving all my corals and passive fish to a smaller tank. (it will be easier to maintain a reef in a 75/90 gal). im thinking of changing the 180 to an aggressive set up in the next few months, and im starting to do some research on aggressives. i am somewhat new to aggressive fish, and would like some input, do's and don'ts. heres a list of a few fish i was thinking of:
pink tail trigger/blue throat trigger
lion (not sure what kind)
eel (again open for comments)
puffer (would like a dogface variant, but not sure how they do with lions)
frogfish
scropionfish
large angel
from what ive read, sharks are a no go in a 180, unless i got a bigger tank.
i dont want all of these fish, but again any imput is welcome, or any killer fish that ive forgotten. thanks for the help

well as far as a lion. go voliation. with a tank of that size that would work out great.
for the eel. you also have alot of options. any of the snake eels, snowflake, zebra, wolf eel, bannana eel or if you wanted a really aggressive eel the tessetla, green moray, or fimbrated moray. but with the more aggressive ones you will have a hard time finding tankmates.
for puffers. i have never had a problem with puffers and lions. but might i suggest a golden if you got the money to spare. if not a stars and stripes is a wonderful puffer.
you list looks pretty good. these are all my opinions of coarse. check them all out and make your decision.

evilss-thanks for the input.
your golden puffer looked awesome, sorry about the loss.
also i love your avatar. ive been a punisher fan for over 10 years (ive got the second comic when he was fighting spider man). i thought the new moive was pretty good, didnt really agree with the storyline per se though. i have heard the new punisher game is supposed to be awesome! gotta look into that.

thanks. i have also been a punisher fan for years. the movie was pretty good. there having to make all of the marvel movies a lil more modern anyways. but im glad there starting to release.
you have alot of open options for your tank. but puffers are my favorite. have tons of presonality. when i used to feed my fish i would open the glass tops and start getting the food ready. my golden would spit water at me if i was taking to long. very very cool. he would also spit water out of the tank if i left the lid open. so you can understand why i enjoy them. they are a lil pricy but make very nice additions.

I agree with SS. There is a lot of fin nippers on that list. I say ditch the lion, on ditch the trigger, puffer and maybe the angel depending on species.

gas- i have heard that the puffers and triggers could be nippers, along with some of the large angels. again im new to the aggressive world, thats why im asking for advice, dont want to make any mistakes.
so pretty much either lion with no puffers/triggers/angels
or puffers/triggers/angels and no lion
would it be ok to sub one of the small groupers instead of a lion? they both put out about the same bioload.
oh i would add the fish over time and they would be small, no full size adults. i would rather them grow up, plus makes the stocking easier.
would a zebra eel like pvc buried in the substrate?
any other suggestions/ideas?

go for the grouper. they make nice additions as well. will eat anything that will fit in there mouth though. i have kept the panter grouper. he was a great fish. eats alot and grows very fast.
the zebra will probably like anything they can hide in. so the pipe isnt a bad idea.
