Going to see what you guys and gals thought about
180gal new glass tank 72x24x24
reef ready 2 overflows (2) 1" bulkheads (2) 1.5" bulkheads, black covers with teeth for overflows
starphire glass on front panel
Total cost: $1035
Do you think I can get a better price for a new tank with those options? If you do could you point me in the right direction?

Just be sure you know what you want, what you are getting, etc. I've heard those guys are really arrogant and pretty much blow you off for customer service once you've given them your money ... so be sure you won't have to get help after you buy.

There is very little recourse with them like SCSInet said.
They are in TN, what is the deal on shipping? Price is in line, but I would keep looking. Every used tank I have bought has cleaned up 100% new. If you could find that price from a LFS, I would do that because they will most likely fix any fopahs.

Dont forget..They only Deliver as close as the nearest Interstate..So make sure you have friends that can help you unload(GC wont help you) and load it up in a truck to take it home..

Thanks for the heads up.
Any other place that sells tanks that I could look into?
My LFS is 90 miles away and the price is crazy. I had to pay like $400 for a 90gal just standard tank. I hate to see what they want for a 180gal.

Do you want glass or acrylic?
There are tons of places that will build and ship you an acrylic tank. If you want glass... there's pretty much Glass Cages and local stores.
The problem with GC is that they are a manufacturer/distributer by main trade who happens to try to snag a few extra bucks by selling direct. Only trouble is that they don't like being bothered with one-offs, so they brush off anyone who isn't buying 10 tanks...
You could also *try* calling AGA (Aqueon now if I remember correctly) or Perfecto and see if you can convince them to sell you one direct, but you'll take a bath on shipping.
I paid $700 for my 180g AGA reef-ready. That's a pretty good deal. If you get one for 900 or less given where you live I'd say you're doing alright.

Is that just for the tank it self? Cause if thats the case I would look around because I ordered essentialy the same tank from my lfs except it's manufactured by AGA and it was around $555.00 with the reef ready overflow kits.

Did you go starfire? I was talking to my LFS guy the other day and he is not sold on starfire. He showed me two tanks side by side and you could not tell the difference. I will still probably get it in the future though.

No, I did not. I can't see a difference either. I figured almost nobody that sees my tank is going to know Starfire glass from their left foot, and since I can't see a difference, I didn't want to spend the extra money.
I spent the extra money on a skimmer as you already know

I've dealt with GC (Tom) the owner several times on custom setups and him and his wife have always been gracious to my pesty ways......but I've heard the opposite from others though......I would shy away from any of their acrylic work......It's not what your picturing when your thinking of the teeth cut into the overflow box cover.....It's very sloppy, and not worth the cash IMHO.......Really the only time you'll notice a difference with Starfire is when you put it up against plate glass.......
