i checked my tank last night when the moon light was on and noticed in a hole in a large piece of live rock i saw what looked like a blue cob web/cotton wooly thing. i turned on the lights and saw my cleaner wrasse behind it breathing heavy and almost colour less. within 5 mins it died as a tried to remove the cob web that was in front of it. ive not had a chance to check my water perams, but will when i get home this afternoon.
the rest of my fish seem really happy still and no sign of stress. does any one have any idea what it could be.
many thanks,
Gareth

Maybe it went to sleep. Some fish spin a web at night for protection. Were you sure it was not breathing?

if it's behind a cocoon, it was most likely sleeping. a ton of wrasses do that for protection. hopefully you didn't trash the fish...

Yep, all 3 of my wrasses do that... cocoon themselves while they sleep... I thought the same thing though at first...
