1st post...losing snails fast!!!!

I have been using this forum for months to get ready to make the plunge. My 24g JBJ has been running for almost 7 weeks and over the course I started with 3 astreas and 3 turbos. I know that the astreas have a problem about getting turned over so did not think twice about about the 1st loss and the 2nd was due to a blue leg hermit liking the shell. However, I have lost 2 of the 3 turbos???? Over the weekend, my XXL Cleaner Shrimp died unexpectedly and the fire shrimp pulled him into the cave and started picking...when the lights went out a flat looking glob (paper thin-moved very fast) came out of the rock with the white worm strings and brought the cleaner to the rock to devourer. It seems like all the shells are ending up in the same area. It was very creepy, is this a good or a bad critter?
Forgot to mention, I bought a 2nd clown on Friday and of course have not seen since Friday before bed. I am thinking the bigger clown killed?

I have 25lbs+ of cured rock and 15 lbs of flamingo reef Argonite running the stock sponge filters with the JBJ.
between the 4 fish, looking at about 6" total length. I know the tang is not a good call...took my 7 year old to the store and you know the rest. That is how the 2nd clown came home and now RIP. The fish were added about 1 wk apart except the last clown and goby.
I just was looking for remnents of the clown and see that I started with 11 snails and now I think 4 are left. Are the hermits that BIG of an eater since they had a clown and a XXL cleaner in 2 days??
How big a cleanup crew should I have between crabs and snails?

Its not the length of the fish is the size of the territores they have. I wouldnt put more than 4 fish in my 55gallon, but w/e u want. As for the snails do a check n search the tank for shells. The other possibility is a Mantis Shrimp...but I don't even wanna bring that up.

sorry for the misspell earlier...too much java!
I follow with the territories, I think I am ok since the 6 line does its own thing, the goby sits on the magnet cleaner and the clown is all over. The tang also seems to get along as all 4 are hanging in the same area ripping at the seaweed.
I think the crabs are really aggresive as now one of the blue legs has a Nass Shell...I might be down to 3 snails. The slithering thing that came out of the ROCK was the freaky thing. Anything is possible but I would think the fishes and crabs would be also disappearing?

If no one is going to comment on the tang, I will....a 24 gallon tank is completely unsuitable for this fish as you mentioned earlier. In my opinion, a 55 gallon tank is the smallest you would want to go and that's even pushing it. I'm not trying to criticize you, as I'm sure you were not doing intentional harm but you really should return the tang. It's always wise to research a future inhabitant carefully before impulse buying...
