Ok, if I put a piece of lr, and a small amount of ls in the tank and lr rubble in the filter, can I use a 2.5g for a qt?
My daughter had a fancy gold fish in it years ago, and it had the carbon bag in the filter. If I just put lr rubble in it will that work ok?
anything else I need to know about using a 2.5g for a qt please advise. and thanks for your time and trouble.

10 gal is the smallest I would go. It is very hard to keep water quality up in a small tank like that and water quality is a big deal in a QT. Also, you generally dont want LR or LS in a QT because you are most likely going to dose it. Also, if you put a fish in there that has a disease - the bug can move into the rock and sand so it could infect future residents.

I also agree that the 2.5 would be way to small. I mean its hard enough to keep things stable in 10g let alone a 2.5. My 25 gallon evaporates more then that in a week lol.
