2 crabs 1 shell?

Hi-I bought two hermit crabs today and after acclimation, when I put them in my tank I noticed an extra body. I thought I killed one already but noticed that both shells had crabs in them too. They started chowing down on the rock right away but now I have this extra crab body. I'm SURE I din't see him in the bag or bucket. Where did he come from? Can they share shells? Thanks, Ant.

It's a molt. Looks identicle to the live one...eyes and all!

when they grow, they shed their skin to become bigger

Yea its a molt. You will see your crab will be geet alot bigger now.
