2 questions skimming ?

1.My tank is 3days old and i was wondering should i start skimming? but a friend of mine said what until your tank is 1 month old. Because you are skimming, but there is nothing to skim. 2. will i kill the bacteria im trying to grow. thanks

No you don't need to skim right away becuase your friend is right there is nothing to skimm.
No, using a protien skimmer does not kill your bacteria
And no do not cycle with hermit crabs

I agree w/ thomas. No need to skim now. Id let your tank cycle first.

IF it's a brand new skimmer you can turn it on now, I know mine took about 10 days to start skimming.
