Recently set up a 120 reef after graduating from a 55 which I still have. What could be better than one reef tank?....two of course :) The new tank has had an explosion of dark brown algae which I never had in the first one. I would guess Ceriths and nerites for the job of cleaning the crap and would like to know if that is the answer or something else would work better? Second question is ..I have a 48" Odyssea Light on my 55 that has two 175w 20000K HQI DE bulbs plus two 96 Watt power compacts and it is a fabulous light. I am thinking of going with the 60" version with three 175W DE Halides and 4 96 Watt PC bulbs but I have been looking and I have found no place that sells 175W DE bulbs..only 150 and 275. Do they make a 175 DE and if so where do I find them? Hate to but another light and not be able to find bulbs...
Thanks

for your first question i would get a diamond watchmen goby. i have one and love it, my sand is always white as can be.
and for the lights im not sure if the 175 would be enough for your tank, whats the depth?
if the depth is 22" and under then get the 150's, i doubt 25 watts will do much and if your worried about 150 not being enough then just get 250's you can build a DIY canopy and put 3 250 DE and 2 VHO actinics tubes.

they do not make a 175 watt DE bulb. and a 150 DE would be jsut as much as a 250 SE parwise. i say go with the 250 if you are planning on keeping some serious stuff,
and as far as your diatoms, they go away with time. A common sign of a new tank, or if not, they often come with a lighting change. They will go away. YWGs are cool, but many can spill sand on corals to the point of killing them if you ar elooking to go in that direction. And plus you dont want a fish just because it sifts sand, you want a fish that is actualy on your wish list if the YWG is not.
