2 Questions:

1) I have had a huge blue ricordia for almost 6 months now, and it has not split yet. It seems to be in a real comfortable spot, so I don't know if that's why. Idunno. Please, what's going on with it?Water is good, and has been ever since it has been established. Minor salinity changes in the past, but not very significant.
2) I have a colony of zoo's that when I first got them, they were closlely bunched up, looked almost like a brain. I have had them for about 7 months. Now, each polyp seems to have beef w/ each of the others. They have much more space in b/t each other, and are all different heights. They do not look like a brain any more, more like a little colony of baby portabello mushrooms. What could be the causes of this?
If you can't answer both, try to help me out w/ at least one. Thanx!!

Is it big fat and healthy?? It might be too comfortable. You can always point a powerhead @ it and make it move or split. Or you can take a razor blade to it. You could also directly feed it and see if that helps. You could also move it to a shady area and have it move out to a "sunnier" area and then move the rock back to its normal area.
My only help on teh zoo's would be to make sure they are getting enough light - otherwise I am not sure what could be going on

A heathy ricordia will split on its own but as mentioned increrased current can induce movement which may result in splitting and direct feedings sometimes help them split...but personally I'd just insure adaquate conditions and let nature take its course.
For the zoos...whenever they are light deprived they will extend upwards towards the light and that sounds like the situation you have. Maybe re-position them where they get more light and see if that helps.

thanx a lot yall! I believe that would have something to do w/ the fact that I REALLY need to change my bulbs. DARN LFS ordered them, and I'm still waiting 2 weeks later! So you can split a ricordia w/ a razor. And it will survive? I know this about other types of shrooms, but I've been hestitant because I have not heard much on splitting ricordias.
