First question, is 20 lbs of LS enought 4 a 29 gallon? I have 20 lb now and was wonderin' if I would need 2 get another bag. Second question, is one PH enough? It is an AquaClear 301 and can pump up 2 174 GPH.
Thanks
:D

I put 50 pounds of sand in my 29 and it makes a nice depth. Right now I have 1 powerhead in my tank, but I am getting another because the one-sided current is pushing my sand to one side slowly but surely. With 2 ph's the current can criss-cross and even itself out some.

I have 40 lbs of live sand in a 46 gall and it works fine. If you can afford it get another bag... if not i wouldn't worry about it. I'd def get 2 phs tho if your going corals, for fowler...1's fine.

thanx, i'm gonna get some corals so I'm gonna get another PH.
Ok next question. Should I get a Prizm protien Skimmer or a sump at my LFS. Money is an issue. The Protien Skimmer is $100 and the Sump is $230 plus a $50 return pump. So I'm looking at $100 or $280. I'm gonna get corals and an anemone down the road. BT or RBT anemone. Another question. Are PC lighting ok for corals and anemones in my 29?
Thanx:)

If you search around there was a chart of suggested lighting for different corals categorized by type of lighting (NO, VHO, PC, MH). I beleive zoos were under NO. So from my understanding you'd be fine.

I have heard bad things about Prism Skimmers. The recommended skimmer of choice would be the AquaC Remora with Mag.
I use PC lighting which cost me nearly $300 for my 55gal, a 30" Orbit fixture 2x65 watt would run ya $180, 2x96 would be $240 and 4x96 would be $440. MH will run ya $250 to $500 for single lamps.
Hope that helps, good luck with your tank.

thanx. I'll think about the lighting. I heard that PC lighting breaks on u. Is that true? When u say single lamp do u mean one bulb? Oh the question before
Should I get a Prizm Skimmer or a sump with skimmer. Read a couple posts up to read it all. Thanx

The one that's $113 is the kind I am looking at at my LFS. R those good? BTW Dont forget the question about skimmer or sump.

With your aquarium only being a 29gal you could settle with a Hang on the Back Skimmer like the Remora.
But a sump is by far more better since it gives you a place for a skimmer, heater, more water volume and a place for more LiveSand and LiveRock.... If you can afford it then go with a sump.
The Metal Halides that I looked at only had 1 bulb.
As far as PC lighting I love my Orbit, The actinics come on at 8am the the Daylight 10,000k and 6,700k bulbs come on at 10am then they turn off at 6pm and then the actinics turn off at 8pm then the Lunar lights come on for a full Dusk to Dawn setup. I haven't heard anything about them breaking.

go to the place Salty Cheese said to check out. My LFS has the 24 in 2 x 65 Coralife Aqualight CF Hood 1x Actnic and 1x10,000k Straight Pin. The one that $113 on the page that comes up first. Are those good lights?
Thanx:)
