try to rearrange the rock work a bit so the old clown has to establish new territory, and will not be protective, and they might just pair up

give them some time... if the old clown doesnt ease up, get rid of one... or get rid of the old one and get a tiny tomato, cause youre old clown is now a female, so you should get a male by getting the smallest clown possible:yes:

It can take a loooong time for them to get used to each other. I have 2 cinnamons in my tank and the bigger one was beating the crap out of the little one. I got so worried that the small one was going to die because of the constant harrassment that I tried to take it out and back to the fish store, but could not manage to get him out of the tank.
I am so grateful now that I could not get him out because now (about 1 month later) the fish get along great and I have seen no signs of aggression. One hosts my rose BTA and the other my hairy mushrooms so they are happy together.
Moral of the story: stick with it, time heals all things

Yes almost completely. I got pretty bad at times... but the fins grew back rather quick.
actually come to think about it... they really started to "get along" when I put my rose BTA in the tank and the female started to host it. That was the first time I saw the male swim out from his hiding place without the female beating the crap out of him.
