20,000k metal halides

Are the 20k bulbs all that or what.
I need new 250w bulbs for a 55g
any suggestions

Not quite sure what you mean by "Are the 20k bulbs all that or what", but as for a recommendation, I like the 10k bulbs. 20k are a little on the blue side. Supplement with actinics and you will be able to have almost anything in your tank. I have used ushio and blueline, and like the ushio better. JMO.

What I ment is are they worth the extra few bucks. I was thinking the 20Ks would not need antics.

i have 2 -400 watts 20k radium and i like the color and no need to supplement with actinics. i like the blue look feels just like ur under the sea.

killyah - what ballast you using ?

If you aren't using an HQI ballast, 20K's won't work anyway. The 20K radium bulbs require an HQI ballast to run.

I am using a M-58 250 watt ballast it`s the type with out the case its a core type transformer with a capicator I made the encloser and wired it myself.
