20 gallon long fuge

I am going to build a 20 gallon sump/fuge for my 40 gallon reef tank. I have a quietone 4000 is this too much flow for my tank? And does anyone have pics or drawings of a good setup for a 20 long?

yea heres mine
its gonna be on my 55g im puttin together
baffle side is the skimmer side
and the middle is the return section
and the other section is my fuge

i have the exact same fuge setup except my return pump is on the baffle side end and fuge is on the other end and the middle is for skimmer and heater. should i change where my skimmer and return pump is?

If that pump is pumping 4000 gph and all of it is going through the refugium, then yes that is too much flow. A fuge should have about 10 times turnover an hour, so that would mean if you are doing half of that 20L as a fuge, that would mean you only want 100 gph flowing through the fuge side. Remember, a fuge should work something like a tide pool (calm, place for space without predation) so having that much flow will make it more like rapids.

i wud put the return in the middle and have a T to split the overflow and have a couple of ball valves so you can control the flow to the refuge...if you skim the water before it gets to the fuge your just takin all the stuff out all the good stuff for the pods

Terrible news. measured the space in my stand and it is 34 1/2 long by 10 3/8 wide by 25 tall. looks like a custom setup is a must.

i have a quietone 1200 that moves 200 gallons of water at 4 foot of head height that i am going to use as a return. i am going with the skimmer->return<-fuge setup with a t and ball valves to control fuge flow. also going with a 300gph cpr overflow. any body got a custom setup that has the deminsions of my previous post.
